About the Club

Worksop Wheelers Cycling Club was formed in October 2013 by a group of local riders who felt that there was enough interest in road cycling to form a club. From trash talk among friends the seeds were sown to base a cycling club in Worksop to encourage locals to come out and ride for fun and fitness.

Our plan was to provide a club run by its members for its members of whatever level and ability who wanted to join us. Many of us were intimidated at the thought of joining some of the locally established clubs. We wanted to offer support to new riders while at the same time having a place for more experienced riders who wanted some mates to ride with.

And Worksop Wheelers was born! From the initial 15 members we have gone from strength to strength and now have well over 90 members of differing ages and abilities.

We have a regular club ride, weather permitting, leaving most Sunday's at 08:30 We do try and plan the routes and these are usually posted on our Facebook page and we never knowingly leave a rider behind.

Throughout the year we are run an alternative ride for beginners or for people coming back to road riding - See Events page for more details. These rides are also weather permitting.

Other rides through the week are organised by members and posted, usually on our member's Facebook page for people to turn up and ride when it fits in.

Membership currently stands at -

Adults £15, Under 18’s £5, Families £25 (Max. 4) This is payable every year in January. You can join throughout the year, prices are pro-rata and is at the discretion of the Committee.

Club Membership can be paid through The British Cycling website, click on the link below -

Club Leadership

Since the club was formed in Oct 2013 we have seen a steady growth in membership. We also held our AGM in Oct of that year.

The club's officials are:

  • Chairman - Charles Watkinson
  • Secretary -
  • Treasurer -
  • Child Welfare - Dave Oldale
  • Committee - Mark Roberts

This year we have ambition to grow the membership and get more people riding. We aim to try and encourage as many new riders with varying rides throughout the year.

So we are a new club with ambition. We want to promote grass roots cycling and get people out on their bikes.

Worksop Wheelers can be joined through the British Cycling website -

Club Rules

Whilst we don't have many club rules listed below are some of the main points -

  • All bikes must be in a roadworthy state before setting out on a club ride
  • Helmets must be worn.
  • All juniors must be with a responsible adult on club rides.
  • Please adhere to the Highway Code.
  • Anyone found to bring the Club into disrepute will have their membership cancelled.

What we all want is for people to come along and enjoy riding as much as we all do.
